In Sichuan, China, a 30-year-old man was given the death penalty for killing four people and seriously injuring another while driving under the influence of alcohol. Sun Weiming was also driving without a license and fled the scene of the accident.

An officer reportedly smelled alcohol on her breath, and after interrogation and field sobriety tests, DeWitt was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Research from Canada’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) shows that worldwide, 1 in 25 deaths are directly attributed to alcohol consumption. Most of the deaths caused by alcohol were through injuries, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and liver cirrhosis.
